NPA was selected by the Economic Development Corp./Hunter Roberts Construction Group to renovate and restore the existing Ferry Terminal Building located at Pier 11 in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The terminal suffered substantial damage from the storm surge and had been closed since.

The scope of work included Architectural/ Structural/ MEP services to repair and restore the existing structure back to its original function and address future resiliency. All existing building systems were required to be tested to determine if new equipment was to be specified. NPA and its team restored the exterior finishes that had been damaged and redesigned the interior, replacing interior wood finishes with corrugated metal panels to match existing, providing new restrooms and concession, ticketing and waiting areas and new seating. New energy efficient light fixtures, water efficient plumbing fixtures and flood vents were provided for a more sustainable and resilient structure.
