The glass penthouse designed around and above the existing roofscape of water tank, pump room and stairs. Commissioned by a developer, the penthouse was marketed as an ancillary apartment to be sold with the top floor of the commercially zoned building to a film producer. From the ride up from the street on a private elevator, through the enclosed stairs to the glass house above, the unfolding of spaces and sequences draws on parallels between film and architecture in the experience of time and space.
