DREAMWEAVE is a collection of fabrics and products made with three distinct wild silks unique to the Northeastern region of India: Muga, Eri, and Paat. These hand-loomed fabrics are available for order in minimum quantities of 10 yards. Lead times are typically 10 to 12 weeks. As with all natural materials, there may be slight seasonal variations in color.
MUGA is a golden-yellow silk found only in the Brahmaputra valley. It is extremely strong and durable, gaining more gloss and shine with age. It is highly valued for its unique natural golden color and is traditionally never dyed. Muga Ghicha is made from the part of the cocoon that is typically discarded, and is coarser in texture and duller in color.
ERI is the most sustainable of all the silks. It is spun from shorter lengths of silk and the Eri moth is allowed to emerge from its cocoon and complete its natural lifecycle.
PAAT is a mulberry silk unique to the valley of the Brahmaputra. In its natural state Paat has a soft white sheen. Like other mulberry silks it can be easily dyed, although it is traditionally used only in its natural color.
A portion of DREAMWEAVE purchases will go towards projects that will benefit these women and help sustain their tradition of weaving. For more information and to place an order, please visit www.imakestudio.com or email info@imakestudio.com.
